Greetings: The Michigan Chapter of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO Michigan) is an organization of upper level minority professionals in the transportation industry dedicated to promoting, strengthening and expanding the roles of minorities in all aspects of transportation.
In 2017, we are offering a variety of scholarships ranging from $500 to $3,000. Students who are currently enrolled, or interested in pursuing, degrees in technical transportation-related fields such as engineering, planning, construction management, design and architecture are eligible to apply. Scholarships are also open to students pursuing degrees in transportation administration-related fields such as accounting, business management and communications.
Scholarships are available for graduating high school seniors, college undergraduate and graduate students and vocational-technical students with a 2.5 GPA or above. They must be accepted or enrolled in an accredited college, university or technical-vocational institution. Funds are paid directly to the student and may be used for education-related expenses such as books, education-related technology, etc. Awards may be renewed annually for up to four years according to eligibility guidelines.
Scholarship application packages and instructions are at http://www.comtomichigan.org. All completed applications must be received by mail (or email) no later than Fri., April 14, 2017. Winners will be selected by a panel of transportation and education professionals and notified by Mon., June 19, 2017.
Over the years, our scholarship winners have attended many institutions including the University of Michigan, Wayne State University, Western Michigan University, Hope College, Bowling Green State University and Owens Community College. It is our hope that you will distribute or display the attached flier to help us spread the word about this opportunity and encourage your student(s) to apply.
